Animals On This Farm Aren’t Actually What They Appear To Be

South Dakota artist John Lopez has an incredible talent.

Using only old farm machinery and junk yard scrap metal.

Using old machinery

He creates life sized works of animal art that must be seen to be believed.

life sized works

To a passer by, they may seem like just normal animals.

just normal animals

He is able to re-use scrap metal and turn it into some amazing sculptures.

able to reuse

Other people might have seen just a pile of junk, but he saw opportunity.

pile of junk

Working from his home, he first started after making a head stone for his aunt purely from scarp metal.

Lopez’s favorite part about these pieces is the texture.

is the texture

Lopez just started grabbin’ stuff from the pile and welding it.

If you weld enough of the same thing on over and over it creates this really cool texture.

You’ve never seen in these kinds of pieces before.

never seen these

That’s what draws people in.

Since starting, the results have truly been amazing.

And have been growing in number!

John’s work is one-of-a-kind. Plus, he knows throwing “junk” away isn’t always the answer. Share his works with others and leave a comment below:
